The Willows PICU, based in Highbury, Nottingham, is currently part of an exciting 2 year Quality Improvement project working with the Royal College of Psychiatry, working as part of a Mental Health Safety Improvement Programme to Reduce Restrictive Practices.

We are a 10 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit which provides inpatient services for men who require rapid assessment and management due to experiencing mental illness with an increase in associated risks, and we have career development opportunities for a Clinical Team Leader and Staff Nurses to work within our multi-disciplinary team.

As the Clinical Team Leader you will supervise care approaches and systems of delivery using the Primary Nurse model of care. You will be involved with providing strong leadership throughout the wider MDT ensuring that high standards are maintained and improved upon with the support of the Unit Manager, Modern Matron and Service Manager. Staff supervision, performance monitoring, governance issues and CQC compliance are key areas you will be focusing upon.

You must have clinical experience of working with people with serious mental health conditions and hold a Recovery focused perspective on providing care and support to people with the care of the team.  You must have experience of working as part of a multi disciplinary team with full inclusion of service users and carers.  Liaison with patients, their families and carers and other professionals is integral to the post therefore excellent communication skills are essential.

Staff Nurse applicants must have some experience of working within the mental health setting, be flexible, hardworking and compassionate with a desire to work in a fast pace environment.    You will have strong communication skills and able to work under pressure, under the guidance of the ward management team.  You will have an understanding of current mental health legislation and clinical risk assessment, able to utilise care plans and the named nurse to effectively deliver care to patients.

For either posts, you will be a registered RMN, and able to work on a 24 hour shift rota.  You will have access to training and development, annual appraisals and clinical supervision.

Closing Date for Receipt of Applications:  26 May 2019.
