We provide a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies for the treatment of solid tumours and blood cancers. We are also the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers.
We are currently embarking on an £162 million investment in facilities including a new cancer hospital in the heart of Liverpool due to open in 2020. Based on the same thriving research and healthcare campus as the University of Liverpool and Royal Liverpool University Hospital, the new hospital will ensure every patient receives truly outstanding care and can access the most advanced treatments and clinical trials for generations to come.
Permanent contract - 37.5 hours per week
An existing opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time band 6 Research Practitioner in the Research and Innovation department at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool based at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
Candidates must be a NMC level one registered nurse, must be qualified to give chemotherapy and ideally have research experience.
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is the sole provider of non-surgical solid tumour oncology treatment for the Merseyside and Cheshire region.
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is one of 23 NHS trusts in the Clinical Research Network North West Coast.
The post holder will be a member of the NIHR research team and co-ordinate a portfolio of commercial and non – commercial cancer clinical trials. The role will include identifying patients through MDT’s/screening notes; collecting data; interviewing; supporting, treating and monitoring patients in accordance to ethically approved protocols.
The post holder is employed and managed by Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, employees must be aware of, and accept the requirement to work at other sites across the Clinical Network within reason. Any changes will be subject to consultation
The R & I directorate is a busy environment and working to deadlines with frequent interruption is the norm. Ability to work under pressure, pay close attention to detail and organise the priority of own workload is absolutely essential.
Individual training will be provided to meet the needs of the post-holder.
