Chemotherapy Nurse - Band 6

You will be a qualified chemotherapy nurse with expert cannulation skills and 2 years’ experience at Band 5 level.  Alongside the other Band 6 chemotherapy sister, you will be expected to co-ordinate and manage the unit on a daily basis in the absence of the Senior Sister.  Our unique geographical position and limited access to Consultant Oncologist support means you will be making treatment decisions based on strict protocols and guidelines therefore you will be competent in assessing patient fitness for a variety of chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments.

We are in the exciting position of planning and developing a new oncology day unit. The unit will provide us with 11 treatment chairs for systemic anticancer therapies and an on-suite for supportive treatments. We will also have a Macmillan Acute Oncology Nurse led service and Nurse led peripherally inserted central catheter placement service. Currently our team consists of a Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist, Senior Sister chemotherapy and two Chemotherapy Sisters with Healthcare Assistant and Ward Clerk Support. We are expanding this team to support current patient needs and service demands. This is where you could fit in. If you would like to work in a dynamic, well-established but continually developing unit where the nursing and management teams support and encourage personal and professional development.

If you want to be respected, challenged, encouraged and nurtured in an exciting, welcoming new and dynamic unit come and join our team.

More details of the duties of the post can be obtained from Jane Gaunt on Tel No. 01624 650039.
