This post is fixed term for 18 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join the Informatics Programmes Department to implement Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration at two hospitals within Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board (ABMU). The candidate will have a passion for medication safety and an appreciation for patient safety and health informatics. ABMU are excited to be the first organisation in Wales to pilot an electronic prescribing solution before an all-Wales project procures new pharmacy and electronic prescribing systems.

ABMU Health Board provides primary, secondary and tertiary care services to citizens across Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot and Swansea. We also provide a number of regional services for patients across Wales and the South West of England. Informatics is integral to the delivery of the Health Board’s digital strategy and the directorate plays a key role in supporting thousands of staff to provide effective services to citizens. As a key enabler, we help clinical staff manage and monitor patients throughout their care. We also support staff to review, redesign and enhance a range of services.

You will work closely with ward staff and alongside Pharmacy, Medical, Surgical, Nursing and Informatics to bring your clinical experience to the configuration, training and implementation of Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration. This role will provide a unique opportunity to combine nursing and IT to provide a safer service to inpatients and staff in relation to medicines management.

The post is based at our Headquarters in Baglan, Port Talbot and will require travelling across a number of Health Board sites and therefore requires the ability to travel, potentially at short notice. A number of pool vehicles are available to staff.
