Senior Staff Nurse Band 6 - Generic
An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced and motivated trained nurses. You will have the opportunity to use your managerial expertise and knowledge and skills in caring for patients presenting with a wide range of ophthalmic conditions. You will actively participate in the developing role of the ophthalmic nurses under your care therefore displaying leadership skills is necessary.
Emerging new roles for ophthalmic nurses has redefined patient care and clinical management in the last few years resulting in opportunities for career progression and personal growth. The challenge is to provide comprehensive, excellent ongoing care and support for patients and education/ information to ensure adherence with their eye medication.
You will need recent experience including nurse practitioner, teaching and development. You will also have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, patients and carers as well as working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, be flexible and adaptable in your approach to your work and demonstrate good planning/organisation. Ophthalmic experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided in our induction programme.
You will be expected to participate in carrying out nursing extended roles, such as delivering intravitreal injections, nurse led fluorescein clinics, counselling, photodynamic therapy and consenting patients for investigative procedures.
